Fluorite with Celestine (stabalized)

specimen number:
1602803

location:
Tule Mine, Melchor Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico

description:
An attractive combination specimen showing a cluster of gemmy light purple fluorite crystals hosting a colorless almost transparent bladed crystal grouping of Celestine. This has been stabilized as the Celestine crystal was slightly loose. This was done with a drop of super glue and everything is very stable right now. In great condition all around. There are no points of attachment.

The Tule Mine, located in the remote desert regions surrounding Melchor Muzquiz in Coahuila, Mexico, is one of the larger operations among numerous small mines historically worked for strontium minerals. Geologically, the area is characterized by sedimentary strata hosting cavity-filling deposits where strontium-rich and fluorine-bearing solutions interacted within limestone environments. While many local workings were developed to supply industrial celestine for applications like glass production and electronics, select mines such as El Tule also produced notable fluorite. Mineralogically, the mine is globally celebrated for its striking combination pieces featuring sharp, elongated, transparent-to-white blades of celestine sprinkled or draped with matte-luster, deep lilac to purple cubic fluorite crystals, creating a visually dramatic geometric contrast that is highly prized by mineral collectors.
