A gorgeous gem blue and yellow sharply color zoned cubic crystal of fluorite. This is in great condition. Crystallized all around with no points of attachment. The specimen was collected in the 1960s by Leonard Hom and comes with a previous label.

The West Green Mine, located near the village of Elizabethtown in Hardin County, Illinois, was a notable underground operation within the Illinois-Kentucky Fluorspar District. Geologically, the mine targeted Mississippi Valley-Type (MVT) mineralization, specifically stratiform bedding-replacement deposits and vein structures hosted within the Mississippian-aged Ste. Genevieve and St. Louis limestones. The locality is recognized for producing attractive fluorite specimens, often occurring as translucent to transparent cubic crystals in shades of purple and yellow, frequently associated with barite and galena. Historically, mining and quarrying activities at the West Green site were most prominent during the mid-20th century, with the Ozark-Mahoning Company conducting significant production during the 1940s and 1950s to supply the metallurgical and chemical industries.
