Fluorite with Galena
specimen number:
1352178
location:
Denton mine, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA
description:
Rosy purple translucent semi lustrous cubic crystals of fluorite measuring to 3.5 cm on edge across the top of this matrix with semi lustrous cubic crystals of galena measuring to 2.0 cm in size. Some cleaving present, this still in good condition. The specimen comes with a custom acrylic display base and this base provides a locality as I show from the Denton mine. My guess however says that this is something much older and probably from the Hill Ledford mine. Small black crystals of sphalerite are present as well.
Size: 23.0 x 22.0 x 9.5 cm (large-cabinet)
