Strzegom in southwestern Poland is a well known quarrying area famous for granite extraction that has been active for many years. The granitic rocks are cut in large quarries that produce building and dimension stone. In addition to industrial stone, the quarries are known among collectors for mineral specimens formed in cavities and fractures within the granite. Fluorite occurs there as small cubic crystals, often green or purple, associated with quartz and other minerals.
