Choice old Italian specimen with very pale green to almost colorless gemmy glassy crystals of fluorite in a grouping 4.5 cm across on crystallized quartz. In good condition with very minimal micro-damage present. A wonderful locality example for the species that is still quite attractive. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video and would date to the early 20th century, if not the 19th century. The Cinquevalli Mine in Trentino, northern Italy is a historic alpine mining locality developed primarily for silver, lead, and zinc mineralization hosted in metamorphic rocks of the Austroalpine units. Mining activity dates back several centuries, with underground workings following hydrothermal veins that cut schist and gneiss in a high mountain setting. Although production was modest compared to larger European districts, the mine became well known among mineral collectors for fine specimens including tetrahedrite, sphalerite, quartz, and other sulfide minerals. Today the locality is inactive but remains recognized for its classic alpine mineralization and historic mining heritage.
