Fluorite with Quartz, Sphalerite
specimen number:
2391091
location:
Weardale, Co. Durham, England, UK
description: A sparkling large 34.0 x 17.0 x 10.0 cm matrix is covered by glistening colorless small quartz crystals, these appearing to be forming pseudomorphs after a former tabular mineral, likely barite, to 4.0 cm in size. In the center of this is a translucent semi-lustrous purple cubic fluorite crystal 2.0 cm on edge. Scattered throughout our lustrous black crystals of sphalerite to 2.0 cm. This is crystallized pre-much all around. There is some light chipping as seen, I think considering the size of the piece this is in good condition. Interesting large cabinet old-time British specimen. Shipping weight: 11.4 pounds.
Size: 34.0 x 17.0 x 10.0 cm (large-cabinet)
