description: The Annabel Lee Mine in Hardin County, Illinois, was part of the Illinois Kentucky Fluorspar District, a major source of fluorite, lead, and zinc in the United States. Mining in the area developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, working mineralized veins in limestone. The mine produced fluorite along with associated minerals such as galena and sphalerite. Specimens from the Annabel Lee Mine are of interest to collectors for their colorful fluorite and classic association with this well known mining district.
Nice combination piece with amber colored gemmy crystals of fluorite to 2.0 cm on edge in a cluster with lustrous black crystallized sphalerite. In good condition with just minimal cleaving to the sphalerite off the edge of the piece.
