The Gusdal Olivine Pit, also known as the Aheim Olivine Pit located in Almklovdalen, Vanylven, More og Romsdal, Norway, is an active industrial open-pit quarry that began commercial-scale operations in the mid-20th century (roughly around the 1950s) and remains active today. Geologically, the deposit is part of the Precambrian Almklovdalen Peridotite body situated within the Western Gneiss Region of southwestern Norway. It consists primarily of massive, highly magnesian dunite, garnet-peridotite, and olivine-websterite, representing deep-seated mantle-derived ultramafic rocks that were emplaced into continental crust during early orogenic events and subsequently exposed via regional uplift and erosion.
