Freibergite is a silver rich member of the tetrahedrite mineral group that occurs in hydrothermal vein deposits associated with silver, copper, and other base metals. It was first described from the historic mining district of Freiberg in Saxony, Germany, from which it takes its name. This current example, which was collected in Bolivia around the year 1850, shows metallic lustrous crystals measuring to 0.6 cm in size on matrix with pyrite. In good condition, the specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video. Very choice for the species, of extra interest due to the history.
