Semi lustrous cubic crystals of galena to 2.2 cm in size, these showing the modified octahedral crystals typical of the mining district. This is in good condition. Collected in the late 1960s. Minor marcasite is present.

The Tulsa Quapaw Mine, located in Treece, Cherokee County, Kansas, was a notable historical operation within the prolific Picher Field of the Tri-State Mining District, active primarily during the early to mid 20th century for lead and zinc extraction. Geologically, the site represents a classic Mississippi Valley Type deposit, where ore bodies formed within the brecciated and karstified cherty limestones of the Mississippian age Boone Formation. Mineralogically, the mine is best known among collectors for its impressive sulfide specimens, particularly large, well formed cubic galena crystals and complex sphalerite, often found in association with chalcopyrite, marcasite, and calcite.
