Galena
specimen number:
4971192
location:
Sweetwater mine, Viburnum Trend, Reynolds Co., Missouri, USA
description:
A lustrous sharp cubic crystal of galena 4.2 cm on edge set nicely up on a breccia matrix. Small octahedral crystals are scattered across the faces of the large cubic crystal. This is a little unusual for this mining district, as normally in the paragenisis the octahedral form comes first, and the cubic form last. The specimen exhibits the opposite. In very good condition.
