Galena with Sphalerite
specimen number:
1791085
location:
Silver Islet Mine, Ontario, Canada
description:
The silver Islet mine was worked from 1870 to 1884. This was on a small island in the middle of Lake Superior. Extremely rich and profitable, is quite dangerous and could only be worked during periods of low water. Specimens are quite rare on the market from this locality. This is an interesting galena specimen with an octahedral crystal 0.5 cm in size in an open pocket with crystallized quartz and sphalerite.
