description: Exceptionally large and sharp semi lustrous octahedral crystals of galena measuring to almost 4.0 cm in size on a breccia matrix that is covered with lustrous black crystals of sphalerite. Crystals of white dolomite and attractive golden chalcopyrite are scattered throughout. The specimen is excellent for many reasons. Octahedral crystals of this size are quite rare from the Viburnum Trend, as well as such well crystallized sphalerite. While zinc is certainly recovered from the mining district in the form of sphalerite, well crystallized sphalerite has always been quite uncommon. This is complete all around with no points of attachment and in great condition.
