A bright lustrous crystal of galena 2.1 cm on edge set at one side of a matrix covered with black lustrous crystals of sphalerite. Quartz is present as well. An attractive sulfide specimen that is in very good condition.

The Petrovitza Mine, situated within the renowned Madan ore field of the Central Rhodope Dome in southern Bulgaria, is an active underground mining operation with a modern industrial history tied to post-World War II state-led resource development. Geologically, the deposit is localized along major regional fault structures, such as the Karaaliev dol-Petrovitsa fault system, where hydrothermal fluids have emplaced polymetallic veins and extensive carbonate-replacement skarn bodies within Precambrian metamorphic host rocks and marbles. Mineralogically, Petrovitza is celebrated worldwide for producing exceptional, highly aesthetic specimen associations of galena, sphalerite, quartz, and various carbonate gangue minerals that are heavily sought after by international mineral collectors.
