Zlatolist is a small village located in the Krumovgrad municipality of the Kardzhali Province within the Eastern Rhodopes of southern Bulgaria, a rural area with a long history tied to regional Thracian heritage, traditional agriculture, and small-scale local prospecting. Geologically, the region is situated in the Eastern Rhodopes metallogenic zone, an area characterized by complex Paleogene volcanic and sedimentary complexes cut by hydrothermal systems and low-sulfidation epithermal veins. Mineralogically, researchers have identified interesting zeolite occurrences in these altered volcanic and hydrothermal environments, including localized specimens of harmotome, a relatively rare barium-rich zeolite mineral that forms vitreous, complexly twinned crystals within cavities and fissures of the host rocks.
