Heulandite

specimen number:
1052215

location:
Manganese Mine, Kachi-Dhana, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India

description:
A very unusual specimen of heulandite lustrous pearly crystals measuring to 1.3 cm in size. These are in good condition with minimal damage present. The locality is as given on the antique label that accompanies the specimen. This label dates to the very early 20th century. I suppose it is possible this came from a manganese mine, but if I had to guess, this is probably one of the earlier collected zeolite specimens from the well-known deposits in Maharashtra. Neat historical specimen.
