Hutchinsonite

specimen number:
9506504

location:
Quiruvilca Mine, La Libertad, Peru

description:

Hutchinsonite is a rare thallium bearing mineral. Long known from this locality in Peru, it was often seen as small micro crystals scattered amongst orpiment from material collected at this mine in the 1980s. Within the past year or so a terrific strike of the material has come to light. This current example is absolutely superb with large bright lustrous needle like crystals measuring to 1.0 cm in length extremely thick and nicely placed upon a 12.5 x 9.0 x 3.0 cm matrix. Absolutely wonderful display quality cabinet piece for this rare mineral.

Size: 12.5 x 9.0 x 3.0 cm (cabinet)
