The Shijiangshan Mine, situated in Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng County), Chifeng City (Ulanhad League) in Inner Mongolia, China, is renowned for its complex polymetallic skarn deposits formed via intense contact metamorphism and hydrothermal activity. Geologically, the region features carbonate and silicate rock sequences intruded by Mesozoic magmatic bodies, creating diverse skarn pockets enriched in rare elements. Within these hydrothermally altered vugs, the mine has produced exceptional mineral specimens, including imayoshiite. Imayoshiite is an ultra-rare hydrated calcium carbonate-borate mineral belonging to the ettringite group. Formed during late-stage low-temperature hydrothermal activity, it occurs as tiny, colorless hexagonal crystals and stands out scientifically for its unusual chemical structure incorporating both borate and carbonate complexes.
