description: The Hale Creek Mine, located in Trinity County, California, is a historic underground deposit that was primarily operated as a manganese source during the mid-twentieth century. Geologically, the deposit is hosted within the complex Franciscan Complex, consisting of massive tabular lenses enclosed by chert and sandstone formations. The ore body is composed mainly of hausmannite along with other manganese minerals cut by later hydrothermal veins. The site is well known among mineral collectors and researchers as a classic locality for finding striking, highly saturated pink crystalline specimens of inesite associated with the regional manganese-bearing assemblage
