Kermesite with Stibnite

specimen number:
9503696

location:
Caiwa Mine, Danfeng Co., Shangluo Prefecture, Shaanxi Province, China

description:

From the now famous find of this rare species back in 2003, a large spray of prismatic reddish-brown kermesite crystals measuring 14.0 x 4.5 x 2.0 cm in size. Not razor-sharp and perfect, but then these never were. Originally there was a find of maybe 600 to 800 specimens, these plentiful on the market for a while but since have completely disappeared. The locality for these specimens was never certain. This is the generally accepted locality. Minor stibnite in association. Will show all around. A really superb cabinet sized example for this rare species rarely seen crystallized such as this.

Size: 14.0 x 4.0 x 2.0 cm (cabinet)
