Liroconite

specimen number:
8011013

location:
Wheal Gorland, Gwennap, Cornwall, England, UK

description:

Very sharp beautiful semi-lustrous blue crystals of liroconite to 0.5 cm in size filling a shallow open vug measuring 2.5 x 1.5 cm in size within a larger 7.0 x 4.0 x 4.0 cm matrix. This is an outstanding condition, with no damage and good freestanding crystals. The color is great. A very neat piece historically, this comes from the collection of John Wilson Remington(1832 - 1909). His collection label notes that this was the 207th specimen that he acquired in the year 1856. Note on his label that he mentions this piece in very fine and old. The specimen likely dates to the 1780s. A superb British classic.

Size: 7.0 x 4.0 x 4.0 cm (small-cabinet)
