The Campbell Shaft, located in the historic Warren Mining District of Bisbee, Arizona, began sinking operations in 1916 by the Calumet and Arizona Mining Company, initially intended to serve as a ventilation shaft before evolving into a major deep-level copper production hub. Geologically, the deposit is situated within a complex sequence of Paleozoic limestones resting upon Precambrian Pinal Schist, which were intruded by Jurassic-aged granitic rocks. Mineralization primarily consists of high-grade copper replacement orebodies formed through hydrothermal activity and later enhanced by extensive supergene enrichment processes.
