Light green botryoidal crystallized malachite across the top of a massive barite matrix. This is a calcite rich variety of malachite. In great condition. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video and dates to the very early 20th century.

The Kupferrose Mine, located near Lauterberg in the Harz Mountains of Germany, is part of a historic mining region known for copper and associated metal production dating back several centuries. The geology of the area consists of hydrothermal vein deposits hosted in sedimentary and volcanic rocks, where mineralizing fluids introduced copper and other metals into fractures and fault zones. Mining activity focused on the extraction of copper minerals, and the locality became known for occurrences of native copper and related secondary minerals formed in the oxidized zones. The name "Kupferrose," meaning copper rose, refers to the distinctive rosette like aggregates of copper or copper bearing minerals found at the site. Although mining has long since ceased, the locality remains of interest for its mineral specimens and its connection to the long history of mining in the Harz region.
