description: This large, rich zinc mine worked first between 1916 and 1926. The mine was later worked from the 1950's into the 1970's. Ore was mostly in pitch and flat structures in the Ordovician carbonate rocks of the Platteville, Decorah and Galena Formations.
Fine classic old time specimen from Wisconsin. A grouping of lustrous galena crystals are partially coated with lustrous golden crystals of marcasite. In excellent condition.
