description:
Green platy tablet shaped crystals of metatorbernite measuring to 0.4 cm in size across the top of a crystalline quartz matrix. Some damage present to the quartz crystals, the metatorbernite crystals are in good condition. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video and dates to the very early 20th century.

The Picoto Mine in northern Portugal is a historic uranium mineral locality developed in granitic rocks cut by hydrothermal veins. The occurrence was known to mineralogists in the early 20th century and produced specimens of uranium minerals from small scale workings and early exploration. Secondary uranium minerals formed in the oxidized portions of the veins, including metatorbernite, which occurs as thin green tabular crystals and small crystal groups.
