The Racracancha Mine, located in the Tinyahuarco District of the Pasco Province in Peru, is a historic mining area that was later rediscovered by local miners focusing on the recovery of fine mineral specimens. Geologically, the deposit is situated within the rich metallogenic region of the high Peruvian Andes, where complex hydrothermal activity affected carbonate and sedimentary sequences. The circulation of mineralizing fluids formed sulfide veins and replacement bodies within the host rocks. The mine has gained notable recognition among mineral collectors for producing sharp, highly lustrous cubic and pyritohedral pyrite crystals, frequently featuring striated faces and complex twinning, often found in association with calcite and pink manganocalcite.
