Bright lustrous golden sharp crystals of pyrite measuring to 3.0 cm on edge across the top of matrix with crystallized quartz. This is in great condition. Very fine for the species for this Bulgarian locality.

The Djurkovo mine is located within the Laki ore district of the Central Rhodope Metamorphic Complex near Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Geologically, the deposit is tied to the Eocene to Oligocene tectono-magmatic evolution of the region, consisting primarily of subvertical quartz-sulfide veins hosted in gneisses and local carbonate replacement bodies within marble layers. Mineralogically, it is characterized by a rich polymetallic assemblage dominated by galena and sphalerite—noted for elevated cadmium and indium content—alongside early pyrite and late carbonate stages. Historically, the mine represents an important part of southern Bulgaria's extensive base-metal mining industry, which developed extensively during the Oligocene epoch's extensional tectonic and magmatic events.
