The Taylor Mine near Alberta in Baraga County, Michigan was a small iron and manganese mining locality in the Upper Peninsula. The deposit occurs in Precambrian iron formation where manganese minerals formed in fractures and cavities. Pyrolusite occurs there as dark gray to black fibrous or radiating crystal aggregates associated with iron oxides and quartz. Specimens from the mine are known among collectors as examples of manganese mineralization from the Michigan iron ranges.
