Pyromorphite

specimen number:
1126333

location:
Bad Ems District, Lahn valley, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

description:

Fine green barrel-shaped crystals of pyromorphite to 1.2 cm in length are scattered over the front of a 4.0 x 3.0 x 2.5 cm matrix. Microscopic level chipping is present on several crystal edges, this visible mainly with a 10x loupe and not the naked eye, as seen in the photos. Overall, in my opinion, the specimen is in excellent condition for this old German classic. Accompanied by an old Carnegie Museum label. Ref: Lapis 16(1), 38-53 (1991); The Mineralogical Record: 15: 323-344.

Size: 4.0 x 3.0 x 2.5 cm (miniature)

Collection: Wolfgang E. Henkel
