specimen number:

location:
Bunker Hill Mine, Shoshone Co., Idaho, USA
description: A wonderful cluster of large lustrous thick pyromorphite crystals without matrix. This is crystallized completely all around with no points of attachment and the specimen is in super condition. Specimen comes with several previous labels as shown at the end of the video. One of these notes that at one time the specimen was part of the collection of Marty Lewadny. The Bunker Hill Mine in Kellogg, Idaho, located in the Coeur d Alene mining district, was one of the largest lead, silver, and zinc producers in the United States. Discovered in 1885, the mine operated for nearly a century and became the center of extensive mining and smelting activity in the region. Pyromorphite from the mine formed in the oxidized zones of lead ore veins, particularly along the Jersey vein, where bright green to yellow crystals developed from the alteration of galena. These specimens are highly prized by mineral collectors and are considered among the finest pyromorphite crystals found in North America.
