Prismatic brown crystals of pyromorphite on matrix. In good condition and interesting for the species and locality. Note that the previous antique labels with the specimen call this stolzite, it is pyromorphite however. At one time this was part of the collection of Jack Parnau, of parnauite fame.

Zinnwald, located on the border of Germany and the Czech Republic in the Ore Mountains, is a historic mining district that has been worked since at least the 16th century. Mining focused on tin deposits associated with greisen altered granite, along with tungsten and lithium bearing minerals. The district became well known for its complex mineralogy and extensive underground workings developed over several centuries. Mining activity declined in the 20th century, but Zinnwald remains important for its role in European mining history and for the study of greisen type mineral deposits.
