Pyrostilpnite is a silver antimony sulfosalt mineral that commonly occurs in low temperature hydrothermal vein deposits associated with silver ore mineralization. It typically forms dark red to nearly black prismatic crystals or granular masses and may show a deep red color in thin fragments. This example shows red acicular crystals in a tiny pocket within the quartz and galena matrix. Pyrargyrite is present as well. The crystals may be measure to 0.2 cm in size. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video. The specimen would date to the late 19th century, or the early 20th century.
