Dalnegorsk, originally named Tetyukhe until its renaming in 1972, was founded in the late 19th century after rich polymetallic deposits were discovered in the region. It rapidly developed into a major industrial center driven by the extraction of lead, zinc, and boron. Geologically, the area is renowned for its complex skarn ore deposits formed within a mountainous terrain shaped by intense Mesozoic and Cenozoic magmatic and tectonic activity. The unique interaction between intrusive igneous rocks and carbonate sequences created world-class mineral assemblages, making Dalnegorsk one of the most celebrated localities for mineralogy and economic geology in Russia.
