Wilhelm Hoyer (1849-1913) was a prominent German engineer, geologist, and mineral collector based in Hanover. Active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, his professional career in railway construction and regional geology allowed him to assemble a vast and scientifically important collection of minerals and fossils, particularly from northwestern Germany and classic European mining districts. Hoyer maintained close ties with academic institutions and contributed numerous papers to geological societies.
