The Jeffrey Quarry, located near North Little Rock in Pulaski County, Arkansas, is a celebrated mineral locality with a history tied to commercial aggregate production and world-class crystal collecting. Geologically, the quarry is situated within the Ouachita Mountains, where hydrothermal fluids circulating during the Ouachita Orogeny deposited quartz veins and related minerals into the Pennsylvanian-aged Jackfork Sandstone. Mineralogically, the site became famous for yielding exceptional solution quartz crystals, often growing in delicate needle-like clusters and floaters embedded within soft, clay-rich vugs containing rectorite and cookeite. Historically, the aggregate quarry operated actively from the 1950s through the 1960s, and after commercial stone operations ceased and the site filled with water, it experienced periods of controlled access and intense mineral collecting by enthusiasts and students during the 1970s and 1980s before eventually closing permanently.
