Quartz after Fluorite with Sphalerite
specimen number:
4481212
location:
Rampgill mine, Nenthead, Alston Moor, Cumbria, England, UK
description:
Sugary sparkling micro crystals of quartz forming hollow casts after now gone cubic fluorite crystals to 3.0 cm on edge. This in turn is scattered throughout with sparkling black crystals of sphalerite. The casting is very obvious when seen in the video. I think this neat specimen is in great condition. Collected in the year 2003, the area collected however was last worked in the late 17th century.
