Quartz with Fuchsite
specimen number:
1713758
location:
Ihovitra, Ambatofinandrahana, Madagascar
description: The rural locality of Ihovitra, situated in the Ambatofinandrahana district of central Madagascar, is part of a geologically complex region known for diverse pegmatitic and metamorphic mineral occurrences. Regionally, the geology consists of Precambrian basement rocks that have undergone multiple episodes of deformation, metamorphism, and hydrothermal fluid circulation, creating favorable environments for specialized crystal growth. While the area has a long history of small-scale artisanal mining, it gained widespread prominence among mineral collectors when unique quartz specimens were discovered. These quartz crystals are celebrated for containing distinct, vibrant green phantom outlines formed by microscopic inclusions of chromium-rich fuchsite mica that trace earlier stages of crystal development.
Loose colorless gemmy grouping of quartz, these with phantom inclusions lined by green fuchsite. This is in good condition.
