Quartz with Hedenbergite
specimen number:
1711493
location:
Mega Horio, Serifos Island, Milos, South Aegean, Greece
description:
An attractive loose cluster of quartz crystals, these mostly a light green in color, but with an orange red termination on the largest crystal. The green color is due to inclusions of hedenbergite. I assume that the orange red color is due to iron oxide. This is complete all around and in good condition with very slight micro-damage on one of the smaller crystals. Classic material for this Greek locality. Unique with the two colors.
Size: 9.0 x 3.0 x 2.0 cm (small-cabinet)
