Quartz with Hematite
specimen number:
9892060
location:
Jinlong Hill, Longchuan Co., Heyuan, Guangdong, China
description: Jinlong Hill in Longchuan County, Heyuan, Guangdong Province, China, is a regional mineral locality that gained prominence among collectors primarily for producing exceptional specimens of iron-oxide minerals and quartz. Operating primarily as a localized source for mineral specimens rather than a major industrial metal mine, it does not have a formal historical record of industrial opening and closing dates, but modern mineral collecting from this area expanded significantly in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Geologically, the area features hydrothermal vein systems traversing regional metamorphic and sedimentary rocks, rich in iron-bearing fluids that produced striking crystal associations.
Attractive combination piece with glassy gemmy crystals of quartz to 4.5 cm in height coming off of a matrix of rosettes of thin bladed lustrous metallic hematite crystals. This is in really good condition for one of these.
