Rhodochrosite
specimen number:
1911003
location:
Kounrad, Karaganda, Kazakhstan
description: This locality, located approximately 10 km north of Lake Balkash, stubbornly yields some good rhodochrosite specimens from time to time. Many years ago while in Kazakhstan we tried to visit this locality, but were turned away as it was a government protected area. This current example is gorgeous consisting of semi-lustrous pink botryoidal rhodochrosite covering the top of an 8.5 x 6.0 x 4.0 cm banded rhodochrosite matrix. In excellent condition.
Size: 8.5 x 6.0 x 4.0 cm (small-cabinet)
