The Manuelita Mine, situated in the historic Morococha District of Yauli Province, Junin, Peru, operates within a major polymetallic mining region that has seen extraction since pre-colonial and 19th-century periods, with Manuelita itself gaining modern prominence for commercial mineral and rhodochrosite production starting around the late 1990s. Geologically, the deposit is part of the complex Miocene metallogenic belt of the Western Cordillera, sitting within the northwestern sector of the Yauli Dome. The local geology features Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary and volcanic sequences intruded by Late Miocene porphyry stocks, where hydrothermal activity has formed extensive copper, silver, lead, and zinc vein networks, skarns, and carbonate replacement bodies known for exceptional collector mineral specimens.
