Interesting combination piece for this famous old locality. Light pink bladed crystallized rhodochrosite across the front of matrix with colorless gemmy crystals of gypsum to 1.0 cm in size. At one time this was part of the collection of John Marshall.

The Sacarimb Mine, historically known as Nagyag, is located in Hunedoara County within the Metaliferi Mountains of Romania. Commercial mining operations date back centuries, with extensive underground workings developed to exploit rich gold and telluride ores. Geologically, the deposit is situated within a Neogene volcanic structure where calc-alkaline magmatic activity formed epithermal veins cutting through sedimentary and volcanic host rocks. The deposit is internationally renowned among mineral collectors and geologists as the type locality for several distinct mineral species, most notably nagyagite, alongside other tellurides, native gold, and associated minerals such as rhodochrosite.
