Rhodochrosite with Quartz (stabalized)
specimen number:
3651096
location:
Sunnyside mine, San Juan Co., Colorado, USA
description:
Gorgeous pink rhombohedral crystals of rhodochrosite to 1.0 cm in size across the front of this open pocket matrix lined with sparkling crystals of quartz. I think in great condition. The crystals show very slight translucency. This is classic material for this locality. On the bottom of the piece there is a thin fracture and glue is obvious. I do not believe that this is repaired however and I believe the piece to be stabilized. It is completely solid now and the fracture does not go through the entire specimen.
