The Pingwu Mine, also known as the Huya Mine, is located in the Mt. Xuebaoding area of Pingwu County, Sichuan Province, China. Geologically, the deposit is a greisen-type system where hydrothermal fluids from the underlying Xuebaoding granite associated with the Yanshanian orogeny mineralized a series of marble and schist beds. The mine is world-famous for its exceptional scheelite, which typically occurs as sharp, translucent to transparent, pseudo-octahedral crystals with a distinct orange color, often perched on a matrix of white orthoclase and muscovite. Historically, mining and quarrying at the site have targeted tungsten and tin ores, with significant production and mineral specimen recovery gaining international attention starting in the 1990s and continuing through 2026. The locality remains highly prized by collectors for producing some of the most distinct and aesthetically well-formed scheelite crystals in the global market.
