The Tae Hwa Mine, located in Neungam-ri, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea, was a historic underground mining operation primarily worked for tungsten mineralization along with minor copper and tin. Geologically, the deposit is characterized by mineralized quartz veins cutting through regional metamorphic and granitic country rocks typical of the Korean peninsula's complex metallogenic belts. Mineralogically, the mine achieved international fame among mineral collectors and museums for producing world-class, exceptionally sharp crystals of scheelite, often accompanied by quality quartz, fluorite, and ferberite. Historically, commercial and exploratory activities continued through the mid-twentieth century until the mine permanently closed in 1973, after which the surface infrastructure and dumps were completely removed and the site was fully revegetated.
