Beautiful sprays of colorless terminated scolecite crystals, the largest measuring to 14.0 cm in length, coming off of a very thin matrix. Small rhombohedral crystals of calcite are scattered throughout. Typical of these some damage present, overall however this one is in very good condition.

Nashik, located in the Maharashtra state of India, is situated within the vast Deccan Traps geological province, which formed from massive volcanic activity and extensive basalt lava flows roughly 68 million years ago. Historically known as an ancient holy city and an important trade hub, the region gained modern geological fame through local commercial quarries that unearth world-class secondary minerals. Within the gas cavities and vesicles of the ancient basalt, mineral-rich alkaline groundwater circulated over millions of years to precipitate exceptional specimens of zeolites. Among these, scolecite stands out as a premier find, typically forming stunning, delicate, needle-like crystal sprays and dramatic radiating clusters that are globally prized by mineral collectors and museums.
