Lubitova in central Slovakia is a historic mining locality that has been worked for copper and other metals since at least the 18th century. The deposits occur in hydrothermal veins hosted in metamorphic and volcanic rocks, and mining activity continued intermittently into the 19th and early 20th centuries. The area became known not only for metal production but also for its mineral specimens. Lubitova is especially noted among collectors for secondary copper minerals such as libethenite, along with a variety of associated species formed in the oxidized zones of the deposit.
