Silver
specimen number:
1651671
location:
Silver Islet mine, Lake Superior, Ontario, Canada
description:
Masses of native silver scattered across the top of this matrix. Neat locality example, this mine was worked in the latter part of the 1800s and could only be operated when the water level of Lake Superior was low enough. The ore was very rich, but the working conditions were poor.
