Smithsonite replacing Dolomite
specimen number:
1971043
location:
Monte Cristo Mine, Rush, Marion Co., Arkansas, USA
description:
Classic specimen from Arkansas exhibiting crystals of dolomite measuring to 1.3 cm in size, these in the process of being replaced by brilliant yellow crystallized smithsonite. This is in good condition. Previous label gives the locality as the Monte Cristo mine, I am not so sure however that this doesn't come from the Philadelphia mine.
