Smithsonite with Adamite
specimen number:
3151039
location:
Campo Sur, Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
description:
Unusual prismatic thin terminated scalenohedral crystals of smithsonite to 1.0 cm in length, these slightly iridescent in reddish-brown due to iron oxides, over the top of a yellowish sparkling botryoidal crystallized adamite matrix. Slight chipping near one edge of the piece, still I think in good condition and quite unusual and nice for the locality and species.
